Persistence in World History
Welcome to my World History reflection. This year I have learned a lot about world history. We write reflections to show our growth in classes. My class is World History. We have a part of our writing called the claim. This is a statement telling what we believe we have grown in the most. My claim is that I grew in persistence. Persistence is when no matter how hard it is you cannot give up. Now that we understand what persistence is let’s get on with the show. Let’s start with my first artifact.
My artifact is my unit test for the middle ages. I chose this artifact because I studied even though I didn’t want to, and if you ask me that is persistence. The purpose of this artifact is to explain how this helped me understand the Middle Ages and what life was like in the middle ages. The products created were unit test. A term I learned about is a manor. A manor is where serfs lived. A manor was like a self-sustaining farm. Serfs were never allowed to leave the land without the lord’s permission. A serf was not a slave but was more like a belonging that is to the lord, they had very few rights and were often abused by the higher people on the manor, they often worked for hours and hours a day. Now the people higher on the manor were sorted by a system called feudalism. Feudalism is a system that sorts people by their importance. Once you were born in a social class you very rarely moved up or down. Now you probably are wondering how the middle ages stopped. Well a series of things happened. Here are 2. The first one is the bubonic plague. It was a disease that killed you in about a day. This killed lots of people and the surviving moved up in social class causing the base of feudalism to slip out which killed the middle ages. The 2nd one is the Magna Carta which was a document that gave the lords more power and the king less power. This caused an uneven balance in power and helped kill the middle ages. My unit test grade was a 100% on the paper. Because I studied, even though I didn’t want to, I had to use persistence to push through the studying and get it done. Because I studied I got a 100% on the test. Now for the 2nd artifact.
Also during the Middle Ages unit, the project we did was 3-D modeling. My artifact is my sword and my castle in the middle ages that I created all by myself using Maya. I chose this artifact because it shows how I have to keep working and never give up no matter how much I want to and the 3-D modeling difference in between the quality of both of them. The purpose of this artifact is to show how I grew in persistence skills to get the super frustrating 3-D modeling done on time. These artifacts came from the 3-D modeling part of the endeavor. The final product turned out great for both of them. Some terms I learned during this endeavor were Maya, persistence, and lambert. Maya is the program that we used to create our 3-D models. It is widely used by many professionals to create their 3-D models. Next is persistence. Persistence is a skill that you have to master to do right. Persistence is the act of never giving even when it seems impossible. It takes a lot of persistence to do 3-D modeling. Next is the lambert tool. Lambert tool is just another word color palette. The color palette is one of the most important things in 3-D modeling. Without color life is useless and boring. The sword has a couple of defects but overall was a great sword. That is the only thing wrong with the sword. The castle I am super proud of it. To me it is perfect there is nothing wrong with it is my prized piece of work. The reason I say this is that I had to use persistence to do the 3-D modeling and get it done. This is why I am good at 3-D modeling because my castle fits the requirements and is a true representation of life in the middle ages.
To sum all this up for you I think it is clear that I have learned about the middle ages. So now you are probably wondering why do these matter? The truth is these help show my growth every single day because they show where I have gotten stronger in certain areas like persistence because before this project I would not do my work that well and it would look bad but now because I have strengthened my persistence skills I use every minute I have to do my work. Though they all still have one purpose, to prove to you that I grew in persistence. This will help me become the future 3-D modeler I want to be.
